First Year
Introduction to Engineering Design
(1 year)
Learn the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects while working both individually and in teams to design solutions to a variety of problems using 3D CAD modeling software. Students use their hand and power tool and design skills to give back to local organizations by participating in a variety of design projects. Ex. Students adapt a motorized child's car for a local physically handicapped child while partnering with WSU's Engineering Go Baby Go. Students must previous received A-C grades in their math and science classes. Students receiving high enough end of course exam scores are eligible to receive WSU Engineering Graphics credit for this course.
Second Year
Principles of Applied Engineering
(1 year)
Explore a broad range of engineering topics, including mechanisms, the strength of structures and materials, and automation. Develop skills in problem solving, research, and design needed for presentation, collaboration, and design process documentation.

CATIA WSU Tech Block
|
Engineering Internship
|
For seniors who have completed IED and POE. This capstone course involves researching an open‐ended problem and then design and construct a solution to it, submitting progress reports and a final research paper followed by an oral presentation.
|
Drawings include technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. Drafters fill in technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers or scientists. Engineering Designs in Wichita earn an average of $29.08 per hour. WSU Tech Block classes are FREE for high school students.
|
Seniors are able to leave for 20 hours/week to work in local engineering companies.
